Cleansui EU301 Alkaline Water Ionizer
Removes 17 substances from tap water before ionizing it, with 6 modes: 4 alkaline levels, filtered water and acidic water.
What Is an Alkaline Water Ionizer (Alkaline Water Purifier)?
An alkaline water ionizer, also called an alkaline water machine, first filters tap water clean, then uses electricity to split it by electrolysis, producing water at the alkaline pH level you choose. Unlike an ordinary water purifier, which only filters, it does both, which is why it goes by several names, such as alkaline water filter and alkaline water purifier.
The Mitsubishi Cleansui EU301 alkaline water ionizer is made in Japan and installed built-in: the unit and cartridge sit under the sink, and the counter has a drinking-water faucet with a display for choosing the water mode. Water passes through the Super High Grade EUC3000 cartridge, which removes 17 substances, before entering the electrolysis chamber with its 5 platinum-titanium plates.

- 6 modes covering 4 alkaline levels, filtered water, and acidic water
- 17 substances filtered out before the water is ionized
- 8,000 liters per EUC3000 cartridge, or about 12 months
- 3 L/min water flow rate
What Each EU301 Water Mode Is For
| Water mode | pH Level | Best uses | Drinkable? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strong alkaline water | 9.5–10.5 | Washing vegetables, soaking bitter vegetables, boiling vegetables | Not for drinking |
| Alkaline ionized water, level 3 | 9.0–10.0 | Tea, coffee, soup stock, drinking | Drinkable |
| Alkaline ionized water, level 2 | 8.5–9.5 | Drinking, cooking rice, boiling meat | Drinkable |
| Alkaline water, level 1 | 8.0–9.0 | For those new to drinking alkaline water | Drinkable |
| Filtered water | – | Taking medicine, making baby formula, drinking | Drinkable |
| Acidic ionized water | 5.0–6.5 | Washing your face, boiling eggs, mixing frying batter | Not for drinking |
Status lights on the faucet help you avoid using the wrong mode: green means drinkable water (alkaline levels 1–3 and filtered water), red means strong alkaline or acidic water that should not be drunk, and a beep sounds when you select a mode that is not for drinking.
How Is an Alkaline Water Ionizer Different from Ordinary and RO Water Purifiers?
| Type | How it works | Minerals | Electricity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ordinary UF water purifier | Filters out particles, bacteria, and chlorine with a hollow fiber membrane | Retained | Not needed |
| EU301 alkaline water ionizer | Filters the same way, then adjusts the pH by electrolysis | Retained | Uses 220V power |
| RO water purifier | Forces water through a very fine membrane, with wastewater produced while filtering | Almost all filtered out | Depends on the model |
If you only need clean drinking water, a Built-in or Faucet mounted water purifier is enough. If you also want alkaline water for drinking and cooking, an alkaline water ionizer gives you both from one faucet. For a detailed comparison, read our article comparing RO water and alkaline water
How to Choose an Alkaline Water Ionizer
- Filtration comes first: Good alkaline water starts with clean water. Check how many substances the cartridge removes, and under which standard.
- A choice of pH levels: Look for several alkaline levels as well as plain filtered water for taking medicine or making baby formula.
- Electrode plates: The EU301 uses 5 platinum-titanium plates for electrolysis.
- Cartridges and service in Thailand: Make sure genuine cartridges will stay available and that an official importer handles the warranty.
Installing and Caring for an Alkaline Water Ionizer
- The EU301 is a built-in unit: a hole is drilled in the counter for the drinking-water faucet, and the unit needs a 220V power outlet in the cabinet under the sink.
- Our engineering team installs it free of charge in Bangkok and surrounding provinces; travel fees may apply outside this area.
- Replace the EUC3000 cartridge every 8,000 liters or 12 months; a light on the unit tells you when it is time. Buy genuine cartridges for the alkaline water ionizer here.
Alkaline Water Ionizer FAQ
Is an alkaline water filter different from an alkaline water ionizer?
No, they are the same machine. Whether it is called an alkaline water ionizer, an alkaline water machine, an alkaline water filter, or an alkaline water purifier, it means a machine that filters water and then uses electricity to raise its pH so the water is alkaline.
What is alkaline water?
Alkaline water is water with a pH above 7, which is neutral. Alkaline drinking water from the EU301 is in the pH 8.0–10.0 range (levels 1–3).
Which alkaline level should I start drinking?
The manual recommends starting at level 1 (pH 8.0–9.0) and moving up once you are used to it. Use filtered water for taking medicine and making baby formula, and do not drink strong alkaline or acidic water. People with a medical condition, especially kidney disease, should consult a doctor before drinking alkaline water regularly.
Does an alkaline water ionizer use electricity?
Yes, 220V, but only for making alkaline water; filtration runs on tap water pressure. All other Cleansui water purifiers need no electricity.
Are ALC1110 cartridges for the older alkaline water ionizer still available?
The manufacturer has discontinued the ALC1110 cartridge for the older countertop alkaline water ionizer. Owners of the older model can ask about switching to the EU301 via LINE @cleansuithailand.
Why choose an alkaline water ionizer from Japan?
The EU301 is made in Japan by Mitsubishi Chemical Cleansui, which has been developing hollow fiber membranes for water filtration since 1984. It is imported, with a 2-year warranty on the unit, by Water Click Co., Ltd., the sole official importer in Thailand.
