Technology

Filtration

3 filtration layers in one high-performance cartridge

Mitsubishi Cleansui's water filtration technology removes harmful impurities. Three filtration stages in one cartridge suit the quality of tap water in Thailand — above all the hollow fiber membrane, which removes impurities and microscopic bacteria that conventional activated carbon filtration cannot.

  1. Non-woven mesh fabric

    1Non-woven fabric

    Non-woven mesh fabric

Removes coarse impurities and insoluble suspended solids. Its 3D structure removes suspended solids and impurities as large as 0.01 mm without using chemicals, ensuring water quality safety.

  2. Activated carbon layer

    2Activated carbon

    Activated carbon layer

Efficiently adsorbs residual chlorine, organic compounds, pesticides and unpleasant odors while preserving the natural mineral content of water. Mitsubishi Cleansui's activated carbon has an adsorption capacity three times greater than ordinary activated carbon on the market.

  3. Hollow fiber membrane

    3Hollow fiber membrane

    Hollow fiber membrane

Water passes from the outside of the hollow fibers through millions of ultra-small 0.01-micron pores into the fiber. Impurities as small as 0.01 micron — algae, microorganisms, bacteria, turbidity and metal particles — are removed, while clean water and natural minerals such as Na⁺, K⁺, Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺ pass through, giving clean, delicious water that keeps its minerals.

BASIC

Removes 10 substances

A BASIC cartridge removes up to 10 substances found in tap water:

Turbidity and chlorine

  • 1
    Turbidity

Sediment carried in the water, such as rust, mercury and bacteria, is filtered out completely.

  • 2
    Chlorine

Used to kill bacteria and microorganisms in the water, but it spoils the taste.

Industrial and agricultural chemicals

  • 3
    Trichloroethylene

An industrial chemical that affects liver and kidney function; a carcinogen.

  • 4
    Tetrachloroethylene

An industrial chemical that affects liver and kidney function; a carcinogen.

  • 5
    Agricultural chemicals

Pesticides that seep in from farming that puts quantity ahead of quality.

Trihalomethanes (THMs)

  • 6
    Trihalomethanes

Organic matter in tap water combined with chlorine; a carcinogen.

  • 7
    Bromodichloromethane

A type of trihalomethane, and a carcinogen

  • 8
    Dibromochloromethane

A type of trihalomethane, and a carcinogen

  • 9
    Bromoform

A type of trihalomethane, and a carcinogen

Odor

  • 10
    Musty odor (2-MIB)

    Removes unpleasant odors from water

Cleansui hollow fiber membrane

Membrane

A high-quality membrane

Cleansui's hollow fiber membrane filters water thoroughly clean. In 1984 Mitsubishi Chemical (then Mitsubishi Rayon) developed a ground-breaking hollow fiber membrane that removes bacteria and rust remarkably well. Today it is highly regarded as a precise filtration membrane and widely used in water purification plants, disinfectant production and medical water.

  • 0.01 µm

    The secret of advanced removal

The wall of the hollow fiber (polyethylene) efficiently removes particles larger than 0.01 micron (1/100,000 mm), bacteria and iron rust from tap water.

  • 4–6 µm

    Removes Cryptosporidium

Cryptosporidium measures 4–6 microns, and the hollow fiber membrane removes particles larger than 0.01 micron. Multiplying in the small intestine, it causes stomach pain, fever and severe diarrhea, and chlorine does not kill it.

  • Red rust

    Removes red rust

Efficiently removes the red rust often found in the pipes of older buildings.

  • Less clogging

    Why it clogs less

The hollow fiber has a mesh-like structure, so it filters not only at the wall but through its inner surface too. That structure is why it clogs less than other makers' membranes.
